This is long overdue. I have not died though our internet is being silly and flaky, again. My absence has been strictly due to real life. So much is going on and while it's all giddified and exciting it's scary, I suppose those are the best things.

Lee and I bought an acreage! *confetti* It's beautiful and wonderful and we move in the end of July. I'm gonna try and pick up some cleaning jobs and host some Pampered Chief parties to bring in a bit extra cash. We'll be renting out our gorgeous condo. *sniffles* I have cried a lot about moving. I'm really excited but damn it I love this place. I love this location and I love our neighbors. I love 'Leesaville' that's what I called our area. Along with renting out the condo we're going to add a kitchen in the basement and rent that out. The house is 3400 sq feet not including the basement. We don't really need all that room. I'm gonna have a garden and we have an outdoor hot tub and now when we have friends from out of town they can actually have a room to stay in!

Also, Lee's aunt is pregnant! No this wasn't a whoops, they were pregnant about... two years ago and she miscarried. I'm so excited for them and can't wait for Ava to have more family playmates.

My apologies for not being on R66 or LJ. I'm sure I've missed a slew of excitement.

xoxo

This journal is friends only.

I like to know who has access to my journal thus most entries are locked. I tend to yammer about my fandoms and the chaos that settles in my life more often then not. I'm bubbly and like to chat and meet new people. Feel free to add me and leave a comment if you want to be added and why. Keep in mind since I'm big on the friend-making/commenting when I do a flist cut and you aren't commenting you may get cut... so you've been pre-warned. So leave comments and join in the whacky fun!

My vacation thus far has been very enjoyable and it looks like we may take the second week as well. It'll be nice but oddly enough I think I may miss work. Could be due to the fact I work with my parents and it's always nice spending time with them.

Lee and I went to Chapters yesterday and can I mention that I love bookstores. I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I don't care if it's a second hand bookstore or Barnes & Nobles, I love books. I picked up my Johnny Cash and Bono book. *drools at them* Then today we passed an Indigo and I got Lee to go there and I picked up Female Chauvinist Pigs as well. *sigh* I can now highlight and attach post-it notes to the parts that I love. Can't very well do that to the books from the library. There were some other books that looked interesting but I wasn't prepared to pay until I read and LOVED and knew I could re-read or use as references later on.

So tonight that brought me back to my local library's home page to look them up and put a hold on them. I've got "Witness: for the Prosecution of Scott Peterson" by Amber Frey and "Inside the Mind of Scott Peterson" by Keith R. Ablow and lastly "Night" by Elie Weisel. What can I say I was always intrigued by the case but never followed it close enough. I suppose now it my chance to do so. This is again why I love my library so much. Why buy the book when you can rent it out and see if you love it or not.

I am reading through Scott and Amber's phone transcripts. It's an interesting read, especially the ones that deal with Amber finding out that Scott's wife is missing. I never realized he told Amber (after she found out he was married) that his wife had been missing and that this would be his first Christmas without her a month before Laci even disappeared. The one book "Inside the Mind of Scott Peterson" looks to be very interesting as it deals with trying to understand why he killed his wife and unborn baby. I'm sure you'll hear more and I'll more then likely post blurbs off the book.

Hope you all are having a good Wednesday!

I'll admit there was a fleet of butterflies in my tummy all Friday night and Saturday morning before the Edmonton Screening. I suppose the coffee didn't really help control the butterflies on Saturday morning either. (Though Lisa would've found me funny with the coffee bounce)

We made close to $700.00 for Equality Now, which I'm so happy about considering we weren't sure we'd even break even at one point. I know next time we'll raise more money, this was our first try at something like this and there are ways that we can improve the system to make more money. Brent, Bev and I are already excited about doing it next year. The whole day was a huge success! We actually had Nathan's parents and brother come down and even brought some signed Nathan autographs for the door prizes. Nathan is a SPITTING image of his father, they have the same smile and yes I did get the goofy fangurl smile when his dad smiled at me. I couldn't help it though!!

Got kudos from this nice fellow about my presentation skills. Apparently he considers my presentation skills the best he has seen, of course that could just be a line. He came up to me after the screening and shared, which was nice to hear. I was doing the draw for door prizes with Brent, that was fun. It was funny hearing them all mumble angry words when their number wasn't picked. OH! Nathan sent a piece of the SERENITY REEL from the original reel. I have mentioned that I adore that man right?

The est. total at the moment is $61, 148.76 USD with only 35 out of 47 screenings reporting in. I'm so proud of this campaign! Joss also gave a little message/thank-you over at Whedonesque and you can find that Right HERE

Saturday night I was pretty much a like shaped mush of mush. Just stayed home and relaxed, much to my brother's dismay. *smiles*

Okay so I was checking out AOL Music as I often do. Scoping out new music and watching the new videos etc. (This is also how I came to listen/watch Paris Hilton's new video... I won't even get into that as my Therapist said I should really repress that experience) So I was on the main page and two things caught my interest A.) NEW! Jessica Simpson song and B.) NEW! Gretchen Wilson video.

Jessica Simpson's new song "A Public Affair". I must say it's like she's regressed as a singer. If this is a sample of what to expect from her new CD I'm disappointed, though I kinda expected that feeling. It sounds like something you'd hear of one of those teeny bop-per movies where there would be a make-over/party montage. I was really hoping that she would try to mature her sound. I mean Nick's current CD to his earlier ones are so different, you can tell he's matured not only as a person but also as a singer. Sure I may have a bitter taste in my mouth from her leaving Nick but that doesn't change her music. Feel free to listen and let me know what you think ( [info]jenahville I'd LOVE to hear what you think)

Gretchen Wilson's new video California Girls is smokin'! She looks amazing, I mean I always thought she was cute but the toned body looks really good. Her voice is as sultry as it always is and she makes a dig at Paris Hilton and I always find that amusing. The song reminds me (not tune wise, but lyrically) of "Redneck Girl". Also a good one to check out and again I share my country music love with my flist.

So it's the Eve of the Charity Event I have been helping to organize. I'll admit I'm nervous but it is the excited kind of nervousness where I can't wait for it to happen and meet Firefly/Serenity lovers like myself. Can't wait to see how many people show-up last minute. We scored when one of our major local newspapers wrote up an article about it. You can read it HERE.

So I got bored with the coloring on my last "NYC" layout. Best vacay ever but the green was starting to tick me off. So I worked on a new layout, it's quite different then my usual. Kinda similar to Lucid Figments and the layout there. Anyway, go check it out and let me know what you all think.

So Lee and I have been talking about getting another puppy and today I'm meeting up to look at some and if they check out good I'm getting one!

I woke up this morning to Lee telling me he has a surprise so I must wake up. So I come down the stairs and no there wasn't already a puppy waiting for me though the thought had crossed my mind but instead he pulled out a wad of money. The exact amount that I need to get our new puppy! *squee* And before I get some comments like "What you can't get money out of the bank on your own?" or "do you even have a debit card?" Yes and Yes but it's the point of it. It's his way of saying I know you are SO excited so here I already got you the money all you have to do is meet up and give the money to the guy!

WOO HOO!!! I told him that I'm gonna pitch in some of my own money ontop of the 'families' stack of bills so I can get the female (they are a little more pricey) then a male. Now I just need to wait for the appropriate time to tell him that we would like the female instead. So when we meet up to do that. *bounces*

I was gonna name the little squirt "Tigger" as in "Whinnie the Pooh and Tigger" but now if I get a female it will go back to being "Emma". I'll post pictures I promise!

Okay so this could be a one-shot challenge or if people are enjoying it the challenges may continue in a nice slow pace. It's the fandom soundtrack concept that I came up with a while back. Remembered I polled you all? So the community is open for you all to join. Join and tell your friends about it. It's for ANY fandom so if you are more into GA then you can still participate. So get all the fandoms you are involved with to come join. I've also incorporated a small twist. Since I know not everyone is a LOVER of the PS I decided that you can either do a cover for your playlist or write ficlets for your playlist. This way we'll get more participation.

So my puppy is at the vet's right now. They need to do some blood work on her and I'll admit little nervous here. She's been throwing up a lot lately and I'm hoping it's nothing. Just a little stomach ache but you never know. So yeah... that's where I am right now. Just waiting for the vet to call me and let me know whats the what with her.

Finally got Photoshop to open last night and I will NEVER EVER EVER quit that program again unless I must! Worked on some icons and tried to do up a B/A banner. Didn't work so well, oh well I'll just have to keep playing.

Trailer Picks:

Down In The Valley
Edward Norton, I'm a fan and though the poster cover art looks kinda 'weird' the storyline looks interesting. I like Cowboys... like Norton... so really...

One Last Thing...
It seems like it could be just a big cheese fest but there's something about the trailer that made me post the link. I don't know what it is, maybe it's that the whole 'one last wish' plotline wasn't just some teeny-bopper starring Queen Latifa.

Peaceful Warrior
Need to get this book and read it. That is all I have to say.

So yesterday not such a good day but it managed to take a twist for the better. Mostly when the OILERS BEAT THE RED WINGS!!! Hello round two!!

See the Winning Goal Here

Also I was talking with Eri about how she needs to visit and I'd show her what REAL hockey is all about. If you watch that winning goal you can see the fans and here are some shots of fans and what hockey means to us...

Welcome To The REAL Hockey Town
Prep Work Pre-Game

Hmmm... Food
Pimped Out Oilers Ride

Probably An Hour BEFORE The Game
HAHAHAHA Worthy Poster

I'm looking for photos from Whyte Ave, which is where all the fans went post-game and caused a sea of cooper and blue. Lee and I maybe got 5 block in 45 minute. It was crazy and eventually we had to turn off because the cops block the streets because there were too many people. It was a wild night and really made up for the crappy day that was yester.

Oilers will probably play on Saturday and we will play either San Jose or Calgary. But the Oilers Fans want to go head-to-head with Calgary. (Calgary and Edmonton are rivals as we are in the same province, Alberta)

LEE'S BIRTHDAY TODAY!!! *squee* I have no clue what we are gonna do, probably relax at the house. It's kinda crappy weather today. Rain-y slush. *shudders*

After reading the Rolling Stone interview with Nick Lachey (I had posted a little bit of it last week) I have decided that I am 'officially' claiming today, April 25, 2006 to April 30, 2006 as LOVE YOUR PARTNER a 5 day saga of showing love.

With divorce rates so high and marriage seeming more like the 'cool thing' to do rather then a commitment, especially in Hollywood. Where leaving before trying to work out the problems is a silly notion because leaving your partner high and dry seems like the better option. Not a better option in my mind though. So here is your chance everyone. I don't care if you are just dating, engaged, newlyweds or 35 year running marriage. This is your opportunity to just let your partner know that you love them. My motto has always been never going to bed angry and never leaving angry, by leave I mean when we were dating I wouldn't go or let him go until we had settled and made up; even if that made up was just a simple I love you and we can talk about this later. You never know what tomorrow will bring and communication is so key.

Ways to show your partner that you love/care about 'em: simple phone call saying it, a post-y on the coffee machine, making a special dinner, putting on that cute little number you only use on special occasions, watching their favorite movie, go on a 'date' again, take a walk, simply cuddle etc...

Don't feel like you need to post what you've done on your LJ, though go for it if you want. Heck if you wanna make it bigger and to not be secluded to your partner but your family too go for it. Give your son some extra attention, do a girls night with your daughter and spend some quality time together.

Please if you haven't voted at [info]perfectyum please go do so. You have until the end of the week to do your voting so vote away

I've finished "Female Chauvinist Pigs and the Rise of Raunch Culture" by Ariel Levy last night. It really got me thinking and even more curious about what my friends consider sexy. So yeah I'm gonna interview you all. If you are on my flist then you must respond to this question. *BEGS* No judgement will be placed on you by your answers. You can ask my friends I've been told I'm very non-judgemental. In this case I'm simply curious if I'm just old school crazy with what I consider sexy or if those around me think the same way I do. The comments will be screened and you can leave an anon. reply too so no worries.

[1] How would you define sexy?

[2] Who would you consider sexy and why?

[3] What do you consider to be un-sexy or slutty?

[4] Who would you consider un-sexy or slutty and why?

In other news THIS is why I adore Nick Lachey so much.

I'd marry her all over again," he told Rolling Stone. "Because I still love her. It would be a lot easier to walk away if I didn't."

Dear Jessica, you are a complete FOOL and I hope you realize that and that it hurts when you read this. Well... not this because the likeliness of you stumbling across my LJ is very slim so more about the article... though if you do stumble across my LJ then WHY! Why? Why? Why would you do that? Huh? Why!?

Looking forward to all of your answers!

ETA: Yes if you read my journal then you will be stuck with me telling you to watch this video and this video. In this case GO WATCH WHAT HURTS THE MOST-VIDEO!!! NOW!!!1

I picked up a book from the library about a week ago and haven't gotten around to reading it until last night. When I originally requested the book I wasn't really sure what to expect. I mean I had a little idea what it would be about due to the summary given but past that not much. When I grabbed it yesterday and went up to our room to read I wasn't sure if the writing style was going to be the usual heavy academic garble that at times makes me sleepy. That wasn't the case with this book.

"Female Chauvinist Pigs Women and he Rise of Raunch Culture" by Ariel Levy thus far has been an amazingly accurate book about where feminism has gone. What use to be women fighting to get the same job opportunities as the male species has now morphed into females grinding up against their best friends for a GGW (Girls Gone Wild) hat. I've only read the first chapter but the book has hooked me and has pretty much stated how I feel far more accurately then I could say, with facts to back it up. How sexy is now about prancing around in nothing and being as 'dirrty' as possible because that how somehow become powerful.

I'll probably be talking a lot about this book as I read threw it but thus far my thoughts are all positive. The book is really powerful and sheds light on a lot of things that you may have not even thought about I know it's done that for me already. Topics that you just brushed aside and didn't give it a second thought about are brought up and forces you to think about it. I'm sure some of her quotes are selective and anytime you take quotes they can be tilted to support your view point (i.e. Joss' interview that got skewed to make it look like he was done with FF/Serenity when he's clearly stated that he isn't done with that verse) you have to watch that no matter what kind of book you are ready. Despite that I'd highly recommend the book and unless it takes a serious swan dive I'll continue to recommend the book, no matter what your thoughts are on in regards to feminism. Heck even if you are male read the book! I'm sure for all my University flist your library would have it especially since Women's Studies has become a fairly popular course to take. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this book and the 'raunch culture' of today.

I was surfing through the trailers at Apple and I came across some good ones that I thought I'd share.

The Sentinel
[x] This is most definitely a movie for all Kiefer lovers. [info]canadiangirl_86 you'd love this one.
[x] Synopsis from imdb.com "Special Agent Pete Garrison is convinced that a Neo-Nazi Aryan Disciple has managed to infiltrate the White House. When a White House Agent is murdered, Garrison is framed and blackmailed over an affair with the First Lady Sarah Ballentine. He is relieved of his duties, but Garrison won't stop in trying to prove his innocence, and save the life of the President. While attempting to uncover the person behind it all, he comes into confrontation with his protege, Agent Breckinridge." Really just check out the trailer it is much better then the above.

Stoned
[x] Pop-culture obsessed people you'll enjoy this. Based on the death of Brian Jones founder of the "The Rolling Stones".
[x] Synopsis from imdb.com "A chronicle of the sordid life and suspicious death of Rolling Stones co-founder Brian Jones (Gregory), who was found in the bottom of his swimming pool weeks after being let go from the band."
[x] If you think you may see this movie I highly recommend reading "Who Killed Christopher Robin?" by Terry Rawlings. I'm reading it currently and it's about Brian Jones and his pre-Rolling Stones life and then post-Rolling Stones life and death. Mostly deals with the death of Brian Jones and the author is convinced that Brian was actually murdered and he basically says this is who I think did it. The movie producer for "Stoned" and Terry collaborated their information for Terry's second edition of this book. So there will be similarities between the movie and this book.

Talladega Nights
[x] All I need to say is it has Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon.
[x] Watch.The.Trailer.

The Simpsons Movie
[x] Only a 29 second trailer but funny nonetheless.

Hard Candy
[x] Haven't quite made up my mind about this movie. At first I thought I was gonna be sick because I figured I knew the content but after watching the trailer I'm not sure.
[x] Here's a link to comments for the movie, *WARNING* there could be some spoilers in the these reviews. Read At Your Own Risk.

United 93
[x] Movie about 9/11 and the plane that didn't make it's target due to the passengers fighting back. September 11th is a touchy issue for me, I watch anything about it and I'm bound to cry. I didn't loose anyone in the attacks but it affects me strongly. How I feel about them making a movie about it? I'm swaying back and forth. All I know is I won't be seeing this in a movie in the theatre due to the flood gates that would be opened up from the 'feature presentation' until I've cried myself to sleep. (Poor Lee)

Alpha Dog
[x] Inspired by actual events, I think this could be really good. The trailer is intriguing and I like movies based on true stories as long as there is more truth then Hollywood filler.
[x] Synopsis from imdb.com "A drama based on the life of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever to be on the FBI's most wanted list."

Flicka
[x] "Based on one of the most beloved classics... of all time."
[x] My finally installment a book I loved and still love today. I remember reading this with my mom every night.
[x] I'm so excited about this movie coming out. Really hope they keep with the book, which I'll be reading prior to seeing this movie with my mom.
